Planning

Modular engineering optimization requires a specific, measurable, attainable and realistic planning prior to beginning the engineering design. Before work on the plot plan begins, GMODIS researches both the location of the facility and evaluates the module fabrication yard. This forms part of a detailed transportation study that will identify and mitigate potential risks during the execution of the project.

Plot Plan Design and Development

With the transportation requirements understood, GMODIS begins to develop the plot plan and considering the following deliverables, before building the 3D model:

  • Transposition Lines
  • Preliminary Loop Locations
  • Area Key Plans
  • Module Key Plans
  • Accelerated Modules

Model development doesn’t begin until the Area Key Plans and the Module Key Plans are complete. Each discipline is given its hierarchy and modelling is based on the area number and module number. This is a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary process.

  • Transportation:routing, metocean, sea-fastening, cribbing, cargo strength, stability assessment and motion analysis.
  • Installation:rigging analysis, lifting and lift point analysis (land based, floating, and sub-sea), dropped object studies, ballasting, jacket launch and upending, motion analysis, subsea installation (moorings, SURF, structures).
  • Float-overs:hydrostatic & hydrodynamic analysis, DP capability and mooring.
  • Floating units:temporary phases, tow and hook-up, mooring line change-outs.

 

 

Fabrication Management
